THUMBNAIL
CLIENT / NBC Universal
AGENCY / Rapp
One weekend I proactively attended NBC Universal’s Hackathon. 40+ sleepless hours later my team and I came home with the grand prize for Thumbnail, an innovative news app which we developed alongside NBC. Throughout its development I was involved in all aspects of the creative process - from initial concept, pitching to NBC, design, copy, UX and UI through to final development and delivery. The brief was; to create a solution that engages a new generation of millennial news consumers.
THUMBNAIL
Thumbnail is news tailored for you by you. With a progressive algorithm, the more you explore, the more you’ll get to know each other and create a news experience designed just for you. Cause now you don’t follow the news - The news follows you.
SESSIONS
We tailor music playlists to our mood, so why not do the same with our news? Sessions allows users to create personalized news sessions relevant to the type of news they like and the length and the time of day they consume it. So if you're into kittens, coffee and sports news for your 10 min breakfast download, you can get all the news relevant to that session every morning.
THE DO BUTTON
Millennials love to react to the content they're consuming, but what happens when a share or 'like' isn't enough and you feel compelled to take action? Thumbnail’s DO button allows users to impact the stories that interest them - all inside the app. Whether it be donating money to a cause you care about, buying tickets to an event that you're reading about or finding your nearest congressman's number from a political story that's just broken. The DO Button allows users to impact, change and effect the news they're engaging with in a whole new way.
